Closing the door
Yesterday, my husband was outside on the porch talking to our neighbor. I took out the dog out, said hello to our neighbor, came back in, and locked the door. I went into the back bedroom and started tackling some tasks that I had been thinking about all day. I was so preoccupied that I didn’t hear my husband beating on the door, screaming, or ringing the doorbell. I locked him outside, and couldn’t hear him because I was so laser focused on other things.
Do you ever do that to God? Do you ever find yourself so wrapped up in other things that you can’t hear God?
That’s why it’s important to be like a passenger on an airplane and ‘turn off all electronic devices’. Sometimes it’s good to turn off the phone, close the door (as long as your spouse isn’t on the porch) and focus on being silent. You can’t hear God if the noise around you and the noise in your head is too loud. God speaks in whispers, then in shouts.
Here’s to not making God shout today.
Have you ever prayed this way?
I have to admit, at one time, I was absolutely guilty of this. Thanks to God, and His awesome power, I realized that love is waaaay more powerful than hate.
When I truly listened to God, He showed me there is a better way to pray. Here’s how:
Here’s to having fun this weekend and letting love rule.
It’s a God Thing
Have you ever put your needs out there in prayer and then have them answered in an unexpected way? Have you ever said a prayer and asked God for a solution only to have someone give you the answer the very next day?
My Church Group calls that a ‘God Thing’.
At the start of every get together we’re asked to share a ‘God Thing’. I don’t know why, but I’m always surprised at what we have to share. There’s always an abundance of answered prayers, intervention for good, and blessings.
Someone asked me not too long ago how I know the difference between a coincidence and a ‘God Thing’. I said, “It’s easy. I don’t believe in coincidences. Even if I did, how many times must the universe conspire to answer my insignificant prayer in a sea of millions in just the right way at just the right time? It’s impossible if you think about it. ”
According to the Bible, nothing is impossible with God.
Is. 65:24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
Matt. 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
What’s your ‘God Thing’ ? What miracles big or small have happened in your life?
