Closing the door
Yesterday, my husband was outside on the porch talking to our neighbor. I took out the dog out, said hello to our neighbor, came back in, and locked the door. I went into the back bedroom and started tackling some tasks that I had been thinking about all day. I was so preoccupied that I didn’t hear my husband beating on the door, screaming, or ringing the doorbell. I locked him outside, and couldn’t hear him because I was so laser focused on other things.
Do you ever do that to God? Do you ever find yourself so wrapped up in other things that you can’t hear God?
That’s why it’s important to be like a passenger on an airplane and ‘turn off all electronic devices’. Sometimes it’s good to turn off the phone, close the door (as long as your spouse isn’t on the porch) and focus on being silent. You can’t hear God if the noise around you and the noise in your head is too loud. God speaks in whispers, then in shouts.
Here’s to not making God shout today.

Stay dry Nick. It’s a wet day out there….
